  Content description of INDEX directory
  ======================================
    This directory contains PDS index files for the MESSENGER Digital
    Elevation Model (DEM) data volume.


  MD5 Hash Table
  ==============
    The MD5 Hash table is a listing of all files in the archive (with the
    exception of the hash table itself) and their MD5 hash values.
    It is generated by the commonly available 'MD5Deep' utility.  This
    file is useful as a manifest for the archive and for data integrity
    assurance.

    The MD5 hash files are:

      MD5.LBL         The label for the MD5 hash table.

      MD5.TAB         The MD5 hash table, as described in the label.


  Volume Index
  ============
    The volume index files provide a file list for all PDS-labelled data
    products in the volume, and all previous volumes.  These files
    reference the PDS labels only (note that there is one label per data
    product) and provide basic parameters for each data file as a whole.

    The file list index files are:

      INDEX.TAB        The required PDS index file for the volume.
                       Path and identifying information is included
                       for each product.


  Index Labels and Formats
  ========================
    Each index is provided with a PDS label with the same file name but
    an extension of ".LBL" rather than ".TAB", which describes the
    contents of the index in detail.
